How To Create A Well-run Kitchen?

A comfortable and happy kitchen, that is filled with your family and friends is  very enticing. But, today in most people's kitchens are not used that way because everybody is so busy with work, school, sports, and so much more that the kitchen is not used much, definitely like when I was growing up. When I was growing up each meal was eaten either in our kitchen or our dining room, this was like that because of which season we would be in, in the winter we would stay in the kitchen so it would be warmer, and if it was any other times of the year we would have our meals in the dining room. Most women would still like to have a very well-run kitchen so they can get all of their work done in their kitchen. I like to have my kitchen to be a well-run one.

To me, the best kitchens for now in this time, the best way is to have well used comfortable rooms that you can have many different functions going on in the kitchen. In most house designs the plans are for an open floor plan where you might have your kitchen , dining room, and living room in one area.

To be able to create a well-run kitchen there has to have organization in your kitchen. Because a kitchen does not need to have unwashed dishes in the sink to go in  the dishwasher, also having toys all over the kitchen if you have little ones. When our daughter was little, she always had a certain place  where she could play, not by the stove etc.

A well-run kitchen has to always work as efficiently and comfortable as possible. The surfaces of work tops, appliance tops, stove tops, appliance fronts, cabinet fronts, splash backs, ventilation hoods, and walls should all be tough, durable, and be easy to clean.

Having the most storage space is something that you will need in your kitchen to be able to create a well-run kitchen. The maximum amount of storage space is great, but you need to have a very efficiently and very thoughtfully organized storage spaces. To have deep drawers that can be pull out and be able to store different types of merchandise in both, better organized and easily accessible. Sliding counter top chopping boards and fitted knife drawers will allow for maximum economy of movement. Another way is to have top eye-level cabinets with interior lights and glass fronts so you can see all the contents immediately. Underneath these cabinets put efficient recessed lights or put fluorescent tubes to show an even light on the work surface below. Another way is to have long steel rods and hooks so you can put spice racks, cooking tools, canisters rolls of paper towels, and other things that is useful to keep close to hand.

To be able to have a well-run kitchen, the kitchen would need to have some labor saving equipment, such as microwaves, trash compactors, self-cleaning ovens, freezer and large refrigerators as well as generous work, storage, and dumping space which sometimes you think of this as a good old-fashioned country kitchen.

Another very good  equipment that you can have in your kitchen is to have workbenches which are work tops or counter tops that has sinks, cook tops, and waste disposal units, chopping and preparation space. The best workbenches will contain all or most of the following elements, a length of deep counter top to keep cooking ingredients that are going to be real close, another real lifesaver to have is having a very deep double sink to be able to wash your vegetables and dishes.

If you do not have room to wash and clean up as you go, it would be nice to have a waste and trash disposal. A trash compactor is good to have because it can be put under a counter top and reduces waste to less than a quarter of its original bulk,

Good ventilation is something that you need in any working kitchen is good lighting. Cooking produces steam, smells, and grease-laden fumes and condensation and so this is why you need to have good ventilation to get all of this out.

There are several methods of ventilation from which you can choose.

1. Exhaust fans will expel smoke, smells, steam, and heat either through the walls or the roof.

2. Ventilation - grilles are usually insert into a cook top with an internal fan that gulps up odors, fumes, and smoke before they have the time to mess up your house.

3. Filtration systems- use changeable charcoal filters instead of ducts to filter smells and grease from dirty air, which, is then refreshed and recirculated. These are really effective only in kitchens that do not see much cooking.
