A Functional Approach To Kitchen.

Kitchens that has a lot of function to them makes them better to work in them.

There are four different work stations that you can have in your kitchen which are WET, DRY, HOT, COLD.

When  I am thinking about designing my kitchen, it needs to be organize by function, or the preparation area. This is done so it can be broken down in appearance and placement that can often get in the way of intelligent planning.

Wet Zone

Wet preparation refers to a fairly mundane set of kitchen activities, such as washing vegetables, which all takes place in or close by my sink. Always plan for traffic and work space in the kitchen. I will need to have plenty of room to do this.

Wet Storage

I am thinking about what I need to store near  the wet. It makes sense to store everyday glasses and the plates, bowls, and cups that I  can use all the time. Doing this makes it very convenient. There are some ways that I can accomplish this. Some of them are open shelves, closed cups boards, and decorative plate racks. The next thing is I need it close to the sink. I will need electric coffee pots and electric tea kettle. Right next canisters, paper filters, tea bags, coffee thermos, and teapot. Also other tools that need water put in them is electric rice cooker, mixer, blender, food processor, and slow cooker should be close to the sink whether you store them in cabinet, counter top or if you have a pull-up shelf where you can store them.
Storage for wet also covers colander.
The sink also will creates storage requirements as well as storage underneath. This  is where I will store my dish washing soaps, cleaners, rubber gloves, hand cream and whatever. I would need to do the cleaning up.
I store mop, rags, bucket, broom, and sponges in the broom closet.

SINKS

There are many varieties  of sinks that I can choose from such as stainless steel, and cast iron cookware. They can be large, small,  single, double, and triple.

Garbage Disposal Units

This is another item that I can have in your kitchen.

Trash Compactors

Trash compactors are used to compress garbage into smaller masses which would be nice to have in the kitchens.

Faucets

The best faucets are made of heavy solid brass. There is a choice between having separate hot and cold levers or faucets and single faucet.

Dishwashers

There are many kinds of dishwashers in a wide range of prices, between  low-priced and high-priced.

Countertops

The best countertops for wet place are unbroken expanses of laminates like formica, solid surfacing such as Corinna, stone, such as granite or marble or metal such as stainless steal.

Dry Zone

This activities include chopping and mixing food. I can do this  either by my hand or by machine such as cutting boards.

DRY FOOD STORAGE

This is food that I will not need a refrigerator for. It is a place that I call a pantry. Dry food storage is for staples like pasta, teas, condiments, canned goods, flours, sugars, crackers, coffee, instant soup, paper goods, pet food, and so much more.

Dry Materials

In this area I will need a place to cut bread or chop vegetables.

Mixing, blending, and stirring can be very messy so you will need  to have an easy to clean surface as stainless steel and laminate.

HOT ZONE

The wide range of equipment that would be used there are microwave ovens, toasters, toaster ovens, stovetop burner, ovens, grills,  griddles and broilers.

Each of these needs a space planned for it whether it is permanently installed like a stove or a temporary which I will be using electric work, and slow cooker.

By having stove and oven and this will require storage space for pots, and pans, casseroles, baking dishes, and sheets. Also hand tools, which are mixing bowls, mixing spoons, whisks, spatulas, and so on.

By having a microwave in my kitchen, there are a whole set of glass, ceramic, or microwave-safe plastic pots, and pans that I will need to have storage places for.

HOT EQUIPMENT

Hot equipment comes in many different forms and styles. One of them is a one-piece cookstoves, ranges,. Commercial ranges are found to be used in restaurants.

Modular Cooktops

The best thing about modular cooktops is that I can have move than one cooking station. The cooktops are gas or electric.

Microwave Ovens

Microwave ovens comes in many different sizes with many different options.

Hot Materials

Whatever type of countertop that I am going to use near the hot zone they need to heat resistance.

Updraft Exhaust Systems

Everybody will need to cover the cooking area with the hood so I can get all of the fumes out of the house.

Cold Zone

With many foodstuffs needing to be put in the refrigerator a counter located  between your stove and the refrigerator.

Root Crop and other Food Storage

Root crops such as beets, potatoes, carrots, and turnips does not need any refrigerator. Fruits, breads, and vegetables also do not need any refrigerator.

Refrigerators

Refrigerators come in all kinds of styles which has different types of storage systems and built-in containers.

Floor Materials

There are many different types of flooring that I can put in my kitchen.  There are wood, vinyl, linoleum, carpet and rugs, ceramic, brick, marble, and slate. I have laminate flooring in my kitchen.

SUMMARY

When a person wants to design their kitchen, there are so many different elements that everybody has to take in consecration. ">

How To Install Open Shelving?

I think that I need more space in my kitchen. But, I guess a lot of people think the same way that I do. So I was thinking I could install open shelves in my kitchen. To get started, I will need these materials, which are, measuring tape, hand drill, shelf, level, brackets, and wood screws. Before I start putting up my shelves, I have to find a stud for each section of my kitchen that I am going to do this in. I will find each stud by knocking my knuckles on the drywall until I do not hear a hollow sound> I will need to mark the studs after I find them to determine the interval of my house's framing. My next step is to secure my brackets. I will use a Flathead screwdriver to get the screws secured. It can be done to complement my shelf design. I will have to put a bracket every 2 to 3 feet of shelf length. I will need to have my level handy, because I will be needing to make sure the shelves will be level. I will need to use the level to mark and install the remaining brackets. I will need to measure the length of my shelf to be able to decide how many brackets that I will need in all. By putting up shelves, I can put my favorite kitchen gear close at hand.

How To Paint Cabinets?

When I want to change something in my kitchens, and I decide that I went to change my cabinets in my kitchens, I now have to consider and decide on my cabinets. Since I do not really want to get rid of my cabinets in my kitchen for two reasons, one is there isn't anything wrong with my cabinets and another one is I have a budget that I need to stay in my budget amount. If I decide on getting all new cabinets, this would blow my budget big time, so I have decided that I am going to paint my old cabinets and leave them there in my kitchen. Just painting, will not blow out my budget. The materials that I will need to have before I start painting my cabinets. The materials are paint, liquid snadpaper, primer, tack cloth, 1/4 inch nap paint roller, paintbrush, roller, or sprayers and 220-grit sandpaper. The first step I do is I start cleaning all of my cabinets with detergent to get all of the surface oils and grease off of my kitchen cabinets. I will wipe my cabinet surfaces with liquid sandpaper or I will use a fine grade of sandpaper to lightly scuff the surface of my cabinets. I will then apply a high-grade primer with a paintbrush. I will let it dry. After the primer has dry, I will take a 220-grit sandpaper and sand the primed surface so that the paint will go on good. Wipe thoroughly with a tack cloth all of my cabinets with a brush and then I will let the paint has dry, I will put on a second coat of paint on all of my kitchen cabinets. I now have a new look to my cabinets and I did not have to put out alot of money to achieve this. This way, I was able to use some money to change up my hardware on all of my cabinets. The paint that I used really makes my kitchen sparkle and the new hardware on my cabinets is like icing on the cake.

How To Create Storage In A Home?

I think the biggest secret to a room is, whether it be a kitchen or a family room, is how a person can come up with more storage. I know that this is definitely a reality in my home. I need more storage in almost every room in my house. I would like to start with my kitchen. Because there is cooking, meal plannings, and eating in the kitchen. This makes my kitchen a real popular place in our house. Now, when our child was young and in school, she had her own section just for her and homework. One way to be able to create more storage in my kitchen is when I make an island, with different add-ons attach to it. First, the island will have a wire basket attach to it and I will be able to see what's in it because it is see-through. I would like to put some kitchen towels, pot holders, and oven mitts. I like to cook all different kinds of meals, I like to bake a lot, so I like to have drawers, racks, and hooks so they can hold different ingredients. I like these handy hang-ups which I can put my spices in one section of my two-tier hanging rack. Then I put on a hanging utensil holder and this is where I put my utensils in. I have a pullout drawer that I have put on the lower shelf of my island and I store a lot of my baking products, noodles, and other products stored in jars. I also have an area that is for my cookbooks. I have an area that I made up a work area where I will do my meal plans and my grocery lists there. Another area that I like to have more space is in our office. I have a desk that I used in our home office. I have some corkboard panels that I have put up and create a memo board. I have made an adjustable shelf that I can fit boxes and binders for different paperwork. I like to have room for my computer, printer, and other necessary office products that I will use in my office. I have boards with magnets and I can fasten important papers to these boards. I have office containers9baskets0 that I put my office paperwork in them. In other areas, I like to have storage baskets to put towels, and washcloths in for each bathroom. I like to have extra storage containters by our bed for all of my reading materials. This will go for our daughter's bedroom because she loves to read like I do. In the living room having extra storage for reading materials also, as well as having other storage for movies and other products that we have in our living room. /">

How To Make Different Splashes In A Kitchen

My budget for redoing my kitchen is kind of low, so I am going to try to use different items in my kitchen to change my kitchen. With my budget, I don,t want to change out my backsplash that I have in my kitchen, but I do want to change some areas of my kitchen. One way is to use peel-and-stick-decals. They have self-adhesive backing and they are real easy to go on and they peel off when I want to make a change. When I am considering what color I want for my decals, I want to have a design that will pull the color from my kitchen so it will blend in with the rest of my kitchen. I will apply my decals to my backsplash in a random pattern so I can get the casual look in my kitchen. I like the casual look instead of a uniform pattern which will turn into a traditional design. I always get decals that are washable and water-and heat-resistant. Now I am thinking about changing my backsplash later on down the road, but I will want to start looking at different items to see what I can find out at different stores. Later on, I think I will get some bearded-board paneling because it is alot easier to work with than tile. This is sold in panels, and it can be cut with a jigsaw or circular saw. I will buy my beaded board unfinished, so I can paint it with a glossy paint for the washable finish that I will get. I also like to have some rock style of splash in my kitchen. By using this natural stone veneers in my kitchen, I can get some rustic elegance to my kitchen. Another way I will be able to put some style in my kitchen, with using picture ledge so I can have my favorite plates and artwork. I like to go to a crafts stores and get some vinyl lettering that is on transfer paper. All I have to do is I simply have to rub onto the wall by using a plastic scraper. To change the message all I have to do.,is to peel it off and put up another message. By going through all of these different ways to redo my kitchens, I can change it up every so often and not have to spend more than my kitche,s redo budget.

How To Change The Paint On Your Kitchen Walls?

There is color all around us, in every room of the house, and the kitchen is no exception. In my kitchen, I can find color all around me when I am cooking, such as, sauces, spices, and foodstuffs. By having such a lively foreground, the paint colors that I pick for walls, cabinetry, and the many other background surfaces that I have in my kitchen becomes alot more important. I would like to start off with yellow, because my kitchen is painted a pretty yellow color, because this gives the room a fresh and calming start. So, with that it is good because I spend alot of my time in our kitchen. I think that the kitchen is a room that most people spend alot of their time in with cooking, eating, and cleaning up after each meal. Honeycomb is a color that looks real good painting on a large surface especially with a kitchen that gets alot of natural light, it gives the kitchen a healthy glow. Golden amber is a great accent color that will be great eye-catching color for trim elements. Spun gold is good for the cupboards or backsplashes for a welcoming room. Buttercream is another great color for large areas in my kitchen. Gray, blue, and white colors are good for any pure and simple room. To me, gray is a great easy-to-get-along with color. Dove gray is a good neutral color. It can make a room painted in it to seem to be bigger than it is . Stone gray is a great color to used to set off backsplashes in paler shades. Cloud blue is a very relaxing color and it will be good painted on the walls or cupboards Egg white is a good color to paint the trims and accents in the kitchen. The yellow-green colors can be used to bring the spark back into a kitchen that has gone stale. Key lime pie is a color that is the color of a lime and the color of a stalk of celery combined and it looks good on a wall or on glass tiles on a backsplash.Young lettuce leaf is another great color for a kitchen especially if the kitchen needs to be refreshed with paint. Grass green paint is one used for special attention to any element in a kitchen. Avocado green is a great color to See along with pairing up with dark green or brown. Bold strokes of paint consist of several different colors. Cocoa brown is a great choice of paint for different areas of the kitchen, such floors, and accents. Browns brings in an earthiness which is easy to have in a kitchen because it is easy to live with. Another color is pewter gray, it is a good shade that blends real good with most other colors. It is a good color for the kitchen's cabinets if they are white now and want a change. Lipstick red is a warm, pretty and relatable color that goes real well with lighter neutrals. When white is to much creamy tan will be more warm and welcoming. Ocean blue is one that definite would be great in the kitchen, whether it is a color for countertops or walls. Savory spice consists of glowing spice shades with highlight natural wood,s warm undertones. Toasty brown will remind everybody of a good cup of cappuccino and it goes well on trim, cabinets, or walls. Spiced pumpkin with it will be neutral enough to be used on medium-sized surfaces. Kitchens that have broken wall space, this paint can be a good choice to use in the broken wall spaces that are in the kitchen. Sun-baked orange is a clean color that mixes the red and the yellow together to make it, to beautifully complements a room,s wood tones. Sunbeam yellow is a great color of paint for a kitchen that doesn't receive a lot of light. So there are so many different color schemes that I can use and you can use to change up your kitchens. ttp://">

How to tile a kitchen backsplash?

I love to change different areas in my house. I definite like to do some interior decorating in my house as often as I can.

I like to do some work in my kitchen. I like to tile a back splash in my kitchen to change it up some.

The materials that I will need to have to be able to tile a back splash  are mastic/mortar/ bucket, mixer for mortar, tile sheets, grout, rag and sponge, gloves and grout sealer.

First, laying the tile is all about doing all the right procedures to do the job correctly. The surface has to be properly prepare or I will fail this project.

I will sand all of the painted walls, that I will put my back splash on. Around my wet sink areas, I will attach cement backer board to be used as a moisture resistant and even surface.

By using mesh-backed tile sheets this will make tiling easy. I will need to start in the center and as low as I can, then I will work out and then up. I will need to go as close to the edges with full tiles and then I will then fill the space with either trim or cut titles to go to the edge.

My first step is to put some mortar on a trowel and spread a layer on the wall. I use the trowel's  notched side to draw lines across the adhesive. I will work the adhesive in real small sections and adhesives in real small sections and adhesives workable time frame is 15 minutes. The next step will be to start putting the back splash up. The first sheet will be the most critical to put in place. I have to make sure that I get this one straight and the rest will follow. I will position, press evenly into place, and I will apply pressure with your hands for a few minutes. If I find that the tiles are to heavy or think, I will tack bad nails under the row of tile until the adhesive has cured. I will use plastic tile spacers to keep the tile straight as I go across the wall. The next step I need to do, is I need to get my grout float out and get ready to use it. With my grout float, I will spread the grout mixture all across the tiles until all the spaces are filled. Then, I will use the edge of the tool to work the grout from the surface of the tile into all of the spaces. The next step, I will be cleaning the tile and I will be wiping the tiles with a wet sponge until I do not see any haze on any of my tiles.

After I have put up my back splash, which I would pick a back splash that has some yellow in  it, because my kitchen is painted yellow. I would have succeeded in changing up my kitchen. I like to change up certain areas in my house ever so often, because I get bored with the same way over and over, if it is only changing my furniture around in a room ever so often.

I hope this helps you, if you were thinking about putting up a back splash. ">

How to paint kitchen cabinets?

I have always been raised if there is nothing wrong with it, don't replace it. To me, that goes for a lot of different items in my house, and in my kitchen.

My kitchens cabinets are in real good shape, but we like to make a change with our cabinets. We have decided that we are not going to get rid of our good cabinets, we are going to paint all of our cabinets. By painting, it is a good way to brightening up our kitchen, and not go over our budget that we have for our kitchen redo.

The materials that we have to go to the store and get before we start painting are liquid sandpaper, 3/4" nap paint roller, tack cloth, primer, 220 grit sandpaper, paintbrush, roller or sprayer and quality latex paint.

The first thing I will do to get my cabinets ready for paint is, I will clean the cabinets with a strong detergent to get rid of all the surface oils and grime that is on the cabinets. I apply a high-grade primer to my cabinets to get my cabinets a real good foundation.

After I have done all of these different things, it is time to start painting my kitchen cabinets.

I will take my sandpaper and I will use a find grad of sandpaper to lightly scuff the surface. Next, I will use a paintbrush and apply primer on all of my cabinets and then I have to let the primer to dry. After the primer has dried, I will sand all of the primed surface with my 220-grit sandpaper and this gives the primed surface to take the paint better to the cabinets. I will wipe each cabinet down with a tack cloth.

Before I start cabinets, I have to take all of my cabinets doors off to be able to paint them. I will paint all of my cabinets and I will paint all of my doors also. After I let them dry real good, I will paint on another coat of paint.

The painting of my kitchens cabinets really has made a great improvement to our kitchen and not having to put out a lot of money, that a makes it great. ">
